Community Outreach

Martha Jefferson provides mission-driven community outreach to support the health needs of underserved persons and to improve the overall health and well-being of our community. Martha Jefferson also fulfills its obligations regarding Certificate of Public Need conditions and appropriately discloses charity care, community outreach and other metrics as required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

In adherence with IRS guidelines, our community outreach activities are based on validated needs assessments and are reported in the following categories:

  • Community Health Education
  • Community-Based Clinical Services
  • Healthcare Support Services
  • Health Professional Education
  • Research
  • Financial Contributions
  • Community Building Activities
  • Community Benefit Operations

Our programs are outcome-driven. We evaluate all of our programs based on measured outcomes. New programs are developed and current programs are modified, enhanced or eliminated based on whether or not we can show evidence of measurable outcomes. In addition to adhering to IRS guidelines, we follow the guidelines outlined by the Catholic Health Association of the United States and VHA, Inc.
