Hand Clinic

The Hand Clinic specializes in hand and upper extremity injuries and rehabilitation. It is staffed with Certified Hand Therapists (CHT) and experienced hand therapists.

Our Certified Hand Therapists specialize in elbow through hand evaluation and treatment for injuries, disease process and surgeries. This includes wound care, scar and edema control, mobility and strengthening exercises, joint protection, energy conservation, adaptive equipment and custom splinting. A broad range of personal, home, work & computer ergonomic instruction and modification suggestions are also available.

The Hand Clinic is capable of managing major and minor trauma and reconstructive surgeries to less involved sprains/strains. Common problems treated are:

  • Fractures
  • Tendon/nerve lacerations and repair
  • Tendinitis
  • Nerve compression syndromes (carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, etc.)
  • Crush injuries
  • Ligament strains/tears
  • Joint replacement/reconstruction
  • Arthritis related joint degeneration problems and decreased function
  • RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy)

Therapy is provided by a primary therapist in an individual treatment session with a major emphasis on home programs. The goals are to maximize physical potential and have the individual return to as normal a level of previous function as possible in daily and work activities.

The therapists work closely with physicians, families, employees, case managers and other caregivers involved in achieving the rehabilitation goals.
