Pharmacy Practice Experience

Rotations are designed to enhance the expertise of the resident in the application and management of drug therapy in a variety of patient care areas, including the provision of drug information services, and in practice management as it relates to overall direction and integration of pharmacy services. The program is flexible enough to allow the resident to develop skills in many areas based on individual need and preference.

During pharmacy practice rotations, the resident assumes the responsibility for all aspects of patient drug therapy including:

  • Conducting patient interviews and patient medication counseling
  • Advising physicians, nurses, and patients on appropriate drug use
  • Attending rounds and conferences
  • Pharmacokinetic consulting
  • Providing lectures on drug therapy to medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff
